Diff’rent Strokes is one of the top comedies of the late 1970s and early 1980s.  Today the show continues to be aired in syndication across the globe.  People enjoyed watching child-star Gary Colemen as Arnold Jackson, a poor African-American orphan who was adopted, along with his older brother Willis(Todd Bridges), by a wealthy white man named Phillip Drummond(Conrad Bain).  Arnold and Willis joined a family that included Phillip and his daughter Kimberly.   A regular member of the household also included a maid.  During the eight seasons of the show there were a few maid,s including Edna Garret(Charlotte Rae).  Charlotte Rae took the character Edna Garret to the spin-off sitcom Facts of Life.  Facts of Life and Diff’rent Strokes continue to be hit among audiences.

Over the years Diff’rent Strokes had different guest stars and supporting actors to appear on the show.  Janet Jackson guest starred as Willis’s girlfriend, Charlotte Dupre.  This was not Jackson’s first sitcom; she appeared as Penny on the sitcom Good Times for many years. Jackson was not the only well-know person to appear on Diff’rent Stokes.   First Lady Nancy Regan appeared on Diff’rent Strokes to spread her anti-drug message.    Although it was a show that dealt with serious social issues, Diff’rent Strokes remained a very family friendly comedy.
