“G.I. Joe: Retaliation” won the box office with its opening weekend with 40.5 million in sales. This is the sequel to the 2009 box office success “G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra.” Both films are based on the G.I Joe comic books and animated television program. G.I. Joe has been around for decades and the story is being a told in a fresh way on the big screens.
We have seen that same with other movies. Superman, and Batman have both created a media empire that tells it s story through comics, television shows, and movies. This summer the next movie in the Superman franchise, “Man of Steel”, will be in the theaters. These are just some of the classics that continue to have an audience eagerly hoping for another success.
It is not just the superheroes that continue to find and audience. Classic like “Les Miserables ” have been able to take their share of the box office pie and receive praise from critics.
Even as times change, the basic things that grab our attention seem to stay the same. Even if it is an old tale, recreating the story in a way that modern audience will appreciate can bring success for movie makers.
